I'm preparing to give a presentation at a large computer science conference. As part of these preparations, I needed to call a support line to confirm my membership with this particular professional organization.
So I picked up my phone and dialed their support number.
The other end connected and I heard a female voice telling me that the next few minutes were going to cost some few dollars per minute.
I immediately hung up and double-checked the digits I had dialed.
Apparently I swapped two digits and got connected to the wrong kind of service line.
Good thing I used my cell phone for that call instead of my work phone, otherwise I might have some explaining to do.
